We pride ourselves as one of the very few practices in the Northern Cape that specialize in Sports Vision, specialised contact lens fittings and also provide special services such as Paediatric eyecare, dislexia, diagnosis as well as Low Vision.
Lenses and coatings
There are 3 types of lenses namely single vision, bifocals, and multifocal.
Most lenses are standard with a hard coat to help prevent it from scratching.
If required there is an option to get a harder core and coatings.
Frames are a personal item, almost like shoes. They are available in a variety of colours and quality.
Cheaper frames are made out of scrap metal that they just melt and remodel it into a frame.
This is normally the model that will rust when you sweat and end up burning your skin.
If you have high acid levels in your body, you’ll want to spend more money on a better material frames.
We use a very specific lens which is designed for dry areas like the Northern Cape weather.
If these lenses are not suitable for your needs, there are many lenses on the market and we have access to all of them.
For example we have have clients in KwaZulu Natal and we are able to supply contact lenses suitable for
the coastal areas with high humidity.
Staying in South Africa and especially in the Northern Cape, sunglasses are a NECESSITY, AND NOT A LUXURY!
Sun damage is a reality, Cancer and melanomas are real.
Also, cataracts and pterygiums (the white film/growth that grows over the eye) are all causes of sun damage.
These are things that we often come across in our practice
